Multi-Adventures 2 Days, 1 Day Trek, River Jungle Camp & 1 Day Kayak

Trip overview:
This is moderate trek and kayaking through the primeval world of ancient primary rainforest and ancient jungle surroundings with great view, enchant of the nature under the canopies of old-growth trees in Nam Ha NPA. Stay overnight in the River Jungle Camp made by you or our local guides, visit the remote countryside of Khmu which the village awarded ASEAN Standard of Community Based Tourism 2018 to learn about their lifestyle, culture, traditional and watching dramatic scenery unfold while paddling downriver, tackling exciting rapids and visiting remote communities.

Itinerary:
Day 1: Ban Nam Ha- River Jungle Camp. Approx. 4-5 hours
Meeting at the office or your hotel at around 09:00am and heading to the morning market to gather fresh supplies before taking you to the start of the trail in Nam Ha NPA for 10:00am. The hike leads you across hills and valleys of dense primary rainforest, On the way our guides will stop to identify various plants and trees and explain how they are used by the local indigenous people including a few samples to try. We stop and learn as our guides prepare the meal using the fresh supplies and some natural resources of the jungle cooked and served in bamboo!

Continue on the trail through lush rainforest, using stepping stones and fallen logs to cross sparkling streams while sheltered from the sun’s heat by the canopies of huge and impressive trees. Further on the primary forest opens up to reveal a rich mosaic of cultivated lands passing through tall fields of rattan, cardamom and banana plants. So, we will be arriving to the river jungle camp before sun sets. Besides resting, you are free to go fishing for dinner with your Khmu guide or stroll around the camp or opt for a refreshing swim in the Nam Ha River alongside your camp.

Day 2: River Jungle Camp-Nalan Village-Ban Houy Leuat
In the morning: Breakfast and coffee or tea made fresh by your guides. After breakfast we meet up at the riverside in front of the jungle camp and, after basic instructions on kayaking techniques and safety, we begin paddling down the glorious river and soon find ourselves speeding through the first few rapids. We stop off further downriver to visit another charming Khmu tribe at Nalan village and enjoy another delicious Lao picnic lunch.

In the afternoon: Back on the river take time between tackling each exciting rapid to watch dramatic scenery unfold, as steep jungle-covered hills rise almost vertically on each side. We land at the picturesque Nam Koy village of the Lantan people where you can learn about their unique methods of natural dying and bamboo paper making. The current quickens and we join the mighty Namtha river. After tackling yet more exciting rapids we reach the Houy Leuat village and the end of our kayaking adventure. Our dedicated tuk-tuk collects us for a 1-hour ride back to the office

Note: Nam Ha River is best for kayaking from July to November. Low water levels from December-June may make kayaking rocky.
