2 Days Forest Camp in Vieng Phoukha

Trip Overview
Overnight in a forest camp in the Nam Ha National Protected Area hosted by local people (Khmu ethnic groups). Test local food such as bamboo, leafs of different bushes etc. Trek through the “monkey forest”, visit caves and meet ethnic groups such as Akha, Hmong, Lahu and Khmu.

Itinerary
Day 1: Vieng Phoukha-Forest Camp in Maamaint Cave. Approx. 5-6 hours
9:00 am start by a Tuk Tuk around 20 minutes stop where you start trekking. On the way you will see your first ethnic village (Khmu), start walking through a little fields and an exciting with walking between through the steep rock and ascent and descent in the old growth forest in the Nam Ha National Protected Area after 3 hours of walking you will stop for picnic lunch on the trail before arrive Tah Long village (Khmu Kwean).

Day 2: Forest Camp in Maamaint Cave-Vieng Phoukha. Approx. 5 hours
Rising early, you may be able to see or hear the sounds of the black-cheeked gibbon, monkey, forest chicken, after already preparing you things and breakfast you will start trekking through inside the Maamaint cave about 30 minute and continue ascent and descent to Ban Ban Seng Pang (Khmu Village) visit them about 20 minutes and continue walking on the rough road.

A pleasant and easy walk passing through scenery of Limestone Mountains, bamboo forest and upland rice fields and picnic lunch on the trail. The pick-up awaits the group on the other side of the road and takes you to the Prasat Cave. The limestone cave and continue by pick-up to visit Ban Tha Luang (Hmong village) and continue to Ban Nam Kap Nuea (Lahu village) is the final stop on this tour before returning to Vieng Phuukha in the afternoon. There should be enough time in the day to travel onwards to the Thai border at Huay Xai if you choose.

  • Departure: 9:00 AM daily from Vieng Phoukha; 8:00 from Luang Namtha town.
  • Difficulty: Moderate, short hill climbs and descents walks up and down of hills

Pricing:
The price ranges from US$58/Person for 8 + Pax to US$181/Person for 1 Pax.

The price varies according to the number of participants. The price decreases as more tourists book the same trek!

Remark: the price above non-include transportation if you start the trek from Luang Namtha. If you start the tour from Luang Namtha you will pay more 80-100 US$ depend on transportations.

  • Please be at our office at 8:30 AM if you start trek in Vieng Phoukha and 7:30 if you start in Luang Namtha town.
