Wildlife Jungle Camp & Village Homestay 3-Day Trek in Nam Ha NPA
Trip Overview:
Experience a unique blend of nature and culture in Nam Ha National Protected Area. Join expert forest guides for a three-day trek through untouched jungles and village communities. Learn about indigenous hunting techniques, sleep in banana leaf camps, fish, and hunt frogs. Deepen your exploration of Nam Ha NPA, discovering medicinal plants and animal habits. Cook using jungle species without modern utensils and set up traditional hunter-made tents.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Nam Ha Village – Campsite (Jungle Camp) – approx. 4-5 hours
Meet at 9:00 am for a briefing with your group and guide at the office. Travel by Tuk Tuk to the starting point, stopping at a local market for supplies. Trek begins from Nam Ha village with a local guide, exploring plantations before entering the untouched jungle. Lunch will be a picnic along the way. Learn about medicinal plants, set up traditional camps, and enjoy Khmu jungle cuisine. Continue downhill to the campsite in the primary forest.
Day 2: Campsite – Nalan Village – approx. 3-6 hours
Wake to the sounds of wildlife, enjoy breakfast, and choose from two options:
- Option 1 (3-4 hours): Cross the Nam Ha River to Nalan village for a traditional lunch and learn about Khmu culture.
- Option 2 (5-6 hours): Return to Day 1’s starting point and trek through Nam Ha NPA’s valley to Nalan village. Explore the village, learn about local life, and enjoy community activities.
Day 3: Nalan – Chalernsouk Village or (Nalan – Nahome – Namlue Village) – approx. 3-6 hours
Morning village visit for Lao Coffee or local tea, with opportunities for crossbow shooting and rice pounding. Choose from:
- Option 1 (3-4 hours): Hike uphill through the forest, enjoy lunch, then trek downhill to Chalernsouk village.
- Option 2 (5-6 hours): Follow the Nam Ha River to Nahome village, visit the Lanten minority group, and hike through stunning landscapes to Namlue village. Conclude the trek and return to Luang Namtha in the afternoon by Tuk Tuk.
