Itinerary:
Day 1: Ban Prang to Ban Nam Khouy – Approx. 4-5 hours
After a briefing with the tour guide, depart from the office or your hotel to visit the morning market for food supplies. Head to the Khmu villages along the main road to explore their culture and traditions in Ban Prang. Begin hiking up the mountain from Ban Prang to Ban Nam Khouy, enjoying the natural beauty of Nam Ha NPA. Stop to forage for edible vegetation and prepare a picnic lunch using traditional jungle methods, such as cooking with banana leaves and bamboo pipes. Arrive at the Lahu minority village around 3:00 PM for sightseeing, enjoying the viewpoint before sunset, and exploring the Lahu culture and traditions.

Day 2: Ban Nam Khouy to Camp 1 – Approx. 5-6 hours
After breakfast with tea or coffee, start trekking along the Nam Ha NPA valley from Ban Nam Khouy to the jungle campsite. Trek through primary forest, foraging for edible vegetation and learning about herbs, animals, and more. Experience trekking through the untouched jungle of Nam Ha NPA, following wildlife trails, learning jungle survival skills, and discovering medicinal plants. Reach the campsite around 3-4:00 PM, set up a traditional hunter camp, and prepare a delicious Khmu jungle meal using jungle resources.

Day 3: Jungle Camp 1 to Jungle Camp 2 – Approx. 4-5 hours
Wake up to the sounds of animals before breakfast. Trek across a hill and follow the ridgeline through a cool, shady forest until lunch. Continue hiking slightly downhill to a stream with canopies formed by huge trees, arriving at the campsite before sunset for a swim. The guides will share knowledge about traditional medicinal plants and edible leaves, teaching how to prepare a Khmu jungle meal or enjoy a swim.

Day 4: Jungle Camp 2 to Ban Nalan – Approx. 3-6 hours
Get up early to enjoy the songs of animals before breakfast. Choose between two hiking options:

  • Option 1 (about 3-4 hours):Cross the Nam Ha River to the other riverbank, with a traditional lunch prepared in Nalan village, awarded the ASEAN Standard of Community-Based Tourism in 2018. Learn about Khmu lifestyle, culture, and traditions.
  • Option 2 (5-6 hours):Cross the Nam Ha River and hike up the other side, following the trail through Nam Ha NPA valley. After lunch, continue hiking downhill to a stream with huge trees. Arrive at the village before sunset, check into your homestay, explore the village, and enjoy tourism activities after dinner.

Day 5: Ban Nalan to Ban Namkhoi – Approx. 5-6 hours
Have breakfast and enjoy a bamboo cup of coffee before heading to the next destination. Walk up through a tea garden and enter the jungle again. At a viewpoint, see the beautiful valley landscape. Continue to the lunch site, where your tour guide will prepare and cook Lao food (weather permitting). Trek through the jungle, observing nature, wildlife footprints, traditional medicinal plants, and edible plants. Arrive at Namkhoi village to see the primitive life of the Lanten tribe, who maintain their unique culture. See handmade handicrafts (embroidery products) and buy souvenirs. After dinner, enjoy tourism activities offered by the community.

Day 6: Ban Namkhoi to Ban Namlue – Approx. 4-5 hours
After breakfast, follow the Nam Ha River, passing through cultivated areas of the Khmu and Lanten minority groups. The Lanten still wear traditional clothes, make their textiles, dye clothes naturally, and make bamboo paper (seasonal). After lunch and visiting the village, trek up a steep hill in the jungle, which offers beautiful forests, landscapes, and canopies. The final descent takes you past upland cultivated areas of Namlue village. The trail steepens and can be slippery after rainfall. End the trek and return to Luang Namtha in the afternoon by Tuk Tuk or van.
