Itinerary:
Day 1: Doiluckkham – Nalan Village – Approx. 4-5 hours
The trek starts from Doiluckkham, approximately 20 km from Luang Namtha town, following the same path as the one-day trek. The trail ascends through 20–30-year-old secondary forests before entering the upland rainforest of Nam Ha NPA. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views from a ridge and explore the area’s ancient trees, integral to its natural history. Lunch is a delightful Lao-style picnic enjoyed in the cool upland forest or under a thatched farmer’s hut. Afterward, continue hiking for 2-3 hours beneath impressive old-growth canopies, reaching the village before sunset. Upon checking into your homestay, explore the village, learning about their lifestyle, culture, and traditions. Dinner features local cuisine, followed by community tourism activities.

Day 2: Nalan – Chalernsouk Village or (Nalan – Nahome – Namlue Village) Approx. 3-6 hours
Start the day with village exploration, tasting Lao coffee or local tea in bamboo cups, and trying activities like crossbow shooting and hand rice pounding. After breakfast, choose between two hiking options:

  • First Option (3-4 hours hike):Uphill hike through forests to Nalan village’s traditional lunch spot on the forest route. Then, a gentle descent over two hours brings you to Chalernsouk village, where a tuk tuk awaits to return you to Luang Namtha.
  • Second Option (5-6 hours hike):Follow the Nam Ha River to Nahome village, passing cultivated areas of the Khmu and Lanten minorities. The Lanten, known for traditional attire and textile making, also engage in natural dyeing and bamboo paper crafting seasonally. After lunch and village visits, ascend a steep jungle hill for a challenging yet breathtaking hike through diverse landscapes and canopies. Descend past upland cultivated areas near Namlue village, where the trail steepens and can be slippery after rain. Conclude the trek in the afternoon, returning to Luang Namtha by tuk tuk.
