Multi-Adventures 3 Days (2 Days Trek & 1 Day Kayak)
Trip overview
This is unique both experience of nature and culture experience through the untouched of jungle and village community in Nam Ha NPA with expert forest tour guides, who will teach us about indigenous people lifestyle used by local’s hunter in round three days in the dense forest with river trip experience, sleep at the banana leaf camp, do fishing and frog hunting. The wildlife jungle camp and village homestay will bring us up to walk deeper into Nam Ha NPA and kayak challenging in the Nam Ha River, always learning about medicinal plants and animal habits, cooking species collected on the way without modern utensils at the campsite and setting traditional hunter self-mad tent.
Itinerary
Day 1: Nam Ha Village- Jungle Camp
In the morning: At 9.00am meet your tour guide at the office or your hotel and take a tuk-tuk ride to the start of the hiking trail. After a brief visit to the local Lao market for supplies we arrive at the beginning of the trail at 10.00am and start a 4–5-hour hike. The trail is up through dense rainforest at the base of a shaded valley and then on through a mosaic of cultivated lands and primary forests.
In the afternoon: We stop for a picnic lunch in the heart of the jungle, taking time to appreciate the tranquil beauty of the natural landscape. After lunch we continue the hike for a further 2-3 hours, as the trail courses beneath the canopies of impressive old-growth trees, eventually giving way to an oasis of banana trees and bamboo forest, and we will arrive to camp site at around 04:00pm
In the evening: First thing we will do is learning how to set up a banana leaf shelter, swimming, collecting bamboo and fire wood for bonfire and later enjoy a well-earned dinner. The accommodation is banana leaves camp
Day 2: Jungle Camp-Nalan village
The first option (about3 hours hike). After breakfast, prepare the belonging we’ll cross the Nam Ha River and walk to another side of the riverbank, and traditional lunch will be prepared in Nalan village. The village award ASEAN Standard of Community Based Tourism 2018where we will learn about Khmu lifestyle, culture, and traditions.
The second option (5-6 hours hike) is following the way back until first day stops. From here the trail is in the valley of Nam Ha NPA. After lunch we continue hiking downhill slightly to the stream, where there is lot of canopies from huge, so we will be arriving to the village before sun sets. After check in your homestay, you have time to walk around the village and learn about their lifestyle, culture and traditional. After dinner on local food, you will enjoy tourism activities offered by community.
In the morning: Early in the morning, you may be interested to do Jungle safari (early morning if you want), listening bird’s singing to each other’s and short trek around the camp site before breakfast. start trekking downhill to Jungle camp, camp site is close to the river. Then you can a choice, first option is crossing the mighty Nam Ha River, before making our way up lush hillside covered in dense tropical forest (5-6 hours), second is start trekking from the camp to lunch stop to crossing the river before arriving to village (3-4 hours).
In the afternoon: Around midday we will stop at a picturesque location for Lao jungle picnic, before pushing on through the wild jungle landscape; crossing river and climbing over or under mighty trees fallen across the trail. We continue hiking on the trail through dense jungle, where fields of cardamom and rattan are decorated with huge banana plants and groves of bamboo. After lunch stop, keeping on trek to Ban Nalan (homestay). So, checking in time before you do explore the culture and tradition of Khmu minority group.
In the evening: Before dinner is served at 7:00pm enjoy rest or take a refreshing dip in the river, and then Baci ceremony is next. For nightlife activities in Khmu village is enjoying Khmu traditional perform, bonfire…, lastly head to bed in the comfort of Khmu homestay
Day 3 Nalan Village-Nam Khoy-Houylued on kayak
In the morning: Breakfast and coffee or tea made fresh by your guides. After breakfast we meet up at the riverside behind the eco-lodge and, after basic instructions on kayaking techniques and safety, we begin paddling down the glorious river and soon find ourselves speeding through the first few rapids. We stop off further downriver to visit another charming Khmu tribe at Nalan Tai village and enjoy another delicious Lao picnic lunch.
In the afternoon: Back on the river take time between tackling each exciting rapid to watch dramatic scenery unfold, as steep jungle-covered hills rise almost vertically on each side. We land at the picturesque Nam Koy village of the Lantan people where you can learn about their unique methods of natural dying and bamboo paper making. The current quickens and we join the mighty Namtha river. After tackling yet more exciting rapids we reach the Houy Leuat village and the end of our kayaking adventure. Our dedicated tuk-tuk collects us for a 1-hour ride back to the office
Note: Nam Ha River is best for kayaking from July to November. Low water levels from December-June may make kayaking rocky.
